We successfully completed the national cognitive and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA for the Heartsaver CPR Program.


NASAR

ISAR Course
May 2004, We completed a three day class (16+ hours) and passed the written exam.

The Introduction to Search and Rescue (ISAR) course is a NASAR course designed to provide knowledge concerning the general responsibilities, skills, abilities, and the equipment needed by persons who would be participating in a search or rescue mission. The course is based around rural and wilderness environments but the material is recommended as a base of knowledge for all SAR environments

SAR TECH III Course
May 2004, We passed the examination consisting of a (75) seventy-five question written test covering knowledge of search and rescue.

This level is recommended by NASAR for any person who responds to and functions on SAR missions.


EMI EMI Study

May 12th, 2004 completed testing & successfully passed  
IS-317 Introduction to Community Emergency Response

This study course includes topics on introduction to CERT, Fire Safety, Hazardous Material, Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations, and Search and Rescue.

The course calls for 6 to 8 hrs to complete, and consist of 40 questions. We received a certificate of completion and .8 CEU’s from the Independent Study Office.

May 19th, 2004 completed testing & successfully passed  
IS-100 Introduction to The Incident Command System

This study course includes topics on major ICS functions, primary responsibilities, ICS organizational units, span of control, major incident facilities, and the function of each. Also, what an Incident Action Plan is and how it is used, and the common responsibilities associated with incident assignments from the Federal disaster response workforce perspective.

The course calls for 3 hrs to complete, and consist of 25 questions. We received a certificate of completion and .3 CEU’s from the Independent Study Office.

IS-288 The Role of Voluntary Agencies in Emergency Management

This study course provides a basic understanding of the history, roles, and services of disaster relief voluntary agencies in providing disaster assistance.

The course calls for 10 hrs to complete, and consist of a 25 question pretest, and an exam of 50 questions. We received a certificate of completion and 1.0 CEU's from the Independent Study Office.

IS-195 Basic Incident Command System

This study course provides training to those who may be called upon to function in an ICS environment. The Incident Command System (ICS) is recognized as an effective system for managing emergencies. Several States have adopted ICS as their standard for emergency management, and others are considering adopting ICS.

The course calls for 10 hrs to complete, and consist of 50 questions. We received a certificate of completion and 1.0 CEU’s from the Independent Study Office.


Arkansas K9 Training Center

Trailing Certification

On September 4th, 2004 Andel successfully completed an unassisted Urban track consisting of :
1 1/2 mile unknown aged track in a residential, high traffic area
Major road crossings/varied surfaces (Asphalt, gravel, paved, dirt, grass, etc)
Multiple intersections
Cross track that is more recent than the track
Trying weather conditions
Obstacles including fencing not limited to; field, barbed, chain link, rock, brick, etc.
Distractions including but not limited to; Misc. animals, loose dogs/cats, bystanders, vehicle traffic, bicycle traffic, children at play, etc.
Being able to recognize when the dog is working the correct track, loses the track or gives a negative.
Building/indoor search  included in track
K9 required to successfully scent discriminate correct victim

Incident Command Awareness - Certificate received for successfully completing on September 13th, 2004.

The Incident Management System (IMS) also known as an Incident Command System, is a system for managing personnel who are involved in the response. Using an Incident Management System will help to reduce the chaos that occurs during emergencies. 


STARR

K9 SAR Certification

On Friday, February 4th, 2005 we received our Search & Rescue certification from K9 Kampus & S.T.A.R.R. Academy. 

Testing commenced with communications skills and collection of lost person data. Land navigation skills were to be utilized including the use of a topographical map and GPS location of scent article. 
A one mile, wooded testing area in wet/muddy conditions, contained varied surfaces of dirt/gravel road, and steep hills. The track crossed creeks and several large pools of water. 
Accompanied by a certification official, we were reportedly evaluated on but not limited to; K9 obedience, social tendencies to other canines and unknown persons. Use of k9 equipment (long line & harness). Handlers confidence & competence.
Also to be evaluated were communication with K9, other team members, and search management personnel. 
Subject was to be located and confirmed by an unassisted bark alert, and location was documented.
The days high was 65 degrees, humidity at 27 %. Evening conditions were clear with a NW wind of 4 MPH. 


Blytheville Emergency Squad Canine First Aid
On Saturday, February 12th, 2005 we completed a class on K9 first aid which included Animal assessment, treatment of injuries & canine CPR procedures.

Blytheville Emergency Squad Clandestine Drug Labs
On Sunday, February 13th, 2005 we completed a class on Clandestine Lab Awareness which included instruction on scene assessment, equipment, chemicals, terminology, and dangers associated with the illicit manufacturing of controlled substances.
