Topics include:
|
- Canine CPR/First Aid
Dr. Gall with East Ash Animal Hospital will present
CPR and First Aid for canines. Handlers will be shown proper
techniques for managing canine emergencies while working in
the field.
- Helicopter Safety
Kenneth Eubanks and Bobby Stabbs, pilots of the Mississippi
County Air One, will provide a helicopter safety class.
Participants will learn how to properly approach the
helicopter, helicopter basics, familiarization of interior,
safety issues & procedures while riding in the
helicopter. Class will contain both classroom work and field
work. Field work will consist of hot loading, flying,
hovering maneuvers and unloading canines into helicopter.
- Helper Training Class
Kathy Arnold will present a
class to train new helpers for canines. Kathy is the K9
training director for the Blytheville Emergency Squad.
Reward systems, motivation techniques, canine alerts, helper
responsibilities and training process will be discussed.

- Hazardous Materials
Tony Veal, Dyersburg Fire Dept Department will do a presentation
on recognizing hazardous materials in the search situation.
Calls will contain both classroom work and field work. Field
work will consist of k9 exposure to hazmat suits.
- Clandestine Drug Labs
Mississippi County Sheriff's Office will present a drug
awareness class on how to recognize clandestine drug labs in
the field. What to do or not do to save yourself and your
canine.
- Crime Scene Preservation
Criminal Investigation Division
will present a crime scene preservation class for canine SAR
handlers. Court procedures will also be discussed and
practiced.
- Mock Search
Blytheville Emergency Squad
A special surprise exercise
including a mock accident scene will be presented. All
participants are encouraged to search for
"missing" victims.

The Arkansas Aeroplex resides on the grounds of the
former Eaker Air Force Base. The base closed in 1992 and has re-opened
as a general aviation/commercial airport and industrial park. |
